Learn to treble crochet (trc) - A very long and lacy stitch
Treble Crochet (trc) – A Very Long and Lacy Stitch
Row 1: Ch 13, YO twice and insert hook in 4th ch from hook. Draw yarn through ch. You should have 4 loops on hook.
Begin working loops off 2 at a time as follows: YO and draw yarn through 2 loops on hook. (3 loops left on hook.)
YO and draw yarn through 2 loops on hook. (2 loops left on hook.)
Begin next trc. YO twice and insert hook in next ch. Draw loop through. (4 loops on hook.) Work loops off 2 at a time again as follows: (YO hook and pull yarn through only 2 loops on hook) 3 times. Three times is why it is called a treble crochet with treble meaning three. Continue making trc across ch. Ch 4, turn.
Next row – this is very important – the last ch-4 stitch you made is called the “turning ch.” Unlike the turning ch for sc and hdc, this ch-4 is also counted as the first trc and is not worked in. Skip the top of the first trc and trc in the top of the next 8 trc. Make last trc in top of the ch-4 turning ch you made on the previous row. (10 trc made by counting the first ch-4 turning ch as a trc.) Ch 4, turn.
Continue with the row above making sure to keep 10 trc on each row.
